1923 Canadian MS62 Red/Brown Penny
|Dimensions||2 × 2 × .125 in|
In 1920 the Canadian Government introduced a small cent similar in size and composition to the United States coins.
The first small coins lacked rim denticles. The obverse design was retained (designed by Sir E. B. McKennal) but the reverse was a new design (by Fred Lewis) featuring two maple leafs.
The original mintage was 1,019,022. Composition .955 copper, 030 tin, 015 zinc.
This beautiful coin is very bright and would be a great addition to anyone’s collection.
