1958 Canadian British Columbia Commemorative Silver Dollar. The reverse commemorates the centenary of the Caribou gold rush and the establishment of British Columbia as a crown colony. The totem pole reverse was designed by Stephan Trenka and Thomas Shingles. The top of the totem is a raven used by some Indiginous people to symbolize death causing some to refer to them as “Death Dollars”. The totem is shown with the mountains in the background. The obverse has what some refer to as the ‘Young Head’ of Elizabeth II.
