1858 Flying Eagle US Cent
The Act of February 21, 1857, provided for the coinage of the new copper-nickel small cent.
It also called for the old copper cents and half cents in circulation to be brought in and exchanged for US silver coins and the new cents.
The Flying Eagle was produced from 1856 – 1858.
Designer James B. Longacre, Composition .880 copper, .120 nickel
They were all coined at the Philadelphia mint.
